GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- 60-thousand gallons of wastewater spilled into Possum Creek Thursday after a GRU lift station failed.

The State Department of Environmental Protection says the lift station failed around 10:30 Thursday morning near Possum Creek Park, and it took workers nearly seven hours to finish repairs.

GRU and county environmental workers will conduct water quality testing of Possum Creek, and signs have been posted to warn people about the spill.
