GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- Happy Friday everyone!
Sports fans, it's a pretty good weekend for sports over on the UF campus. The Gator gymnastics team cranks up it's 2019 season tonight. The preseason third ranked Gators take on number eleven Missouri at the O'Connell Center. The meet begins at 6:45. Saturday, the men's basketball team returns from its Arkansas road trip to face off against number three Tennessee in the Odome. Tipoff is at 6 pm. Sunday, it's the women's basketball team that's in the dome. They play Missouri Sunday afternoon at 3.
Also at UF, the Florida Museum of Natural History is hosting its annual Collectors Day this weekend. This is the museum's 40th year celebrating collectors... and their collections. While you're there you can chat with collectors to see how they got started.... and maybe come up with ideas to start you own collection. You'll see everything from Coke merchandise, to Pokemon memorabilia, classic cars and more. Collectors Day is Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. It is free... but there is a charge for some of the museum's other exhibits.
The Hippodrome Theatre downtown is starting up its latest production, "A Doll's House, Part 2". The story is a sequel to Henrik Ibsen's original play "A Doll's House" which premiered way back in 1879. The current show tells the story of a woman who returns to her family... having walked out on them 15 years earlier. Show times are tonight at 8, Saturdays at 5 and 8:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. There are also shows Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7 pm. The show runs through February 3rd.
Music lovers, we have something for you as well. 70's and 80's phenom Rita Coolidge is performing at the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale tonight at 7:30. Also at the Opry: The Bellamy Brothers (of "Let Your Love Flow" fame) appear Saturday at 2:30 and 7:30 pm... while Bill Haley Junior and the Comets perform Sunday. The popular 50's group was originally formed by Bill Haley Senior back in 1952.
Enjoy your weekend!
