In Marion County, Dunnellon is celebrating the city's phosphate mining past with Boomtown Days. The event features cowboys and shootouts, something you might have seen back in the 1890's. There'll also be arts and crafts, a car show, kids area, live music and food. It's Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm downtown. Not too far away in Ocala, the Reilly Arts Center is busy the next couple of nights. Tonight, they're featuring An Evening with Terry Bradshaw, the TV host and former Pittsburgh Steeler. He'll be there starting at 7:30. Saturday, the Reilly teams up with WIND-FM for the Nightrain Guns N Roses Tribute. It's at 7:30 pm Saturday.
If you like looking at homes or enjoy shopping for things to put in them, head to Gainesville. The O'Connell Center at UF is hosting the North Central Florida Home and Garden Show Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 11 to 4. You can check out the latest products and services for decorating, remodeling, landscaping and improving your home. Meanwhile, this is the last weekend for the 2019 Spring Parade of Homes. You can see the latest in home design and energy saving features. It's noon to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday at a variety of locations across the county.
Also in Alachua County, this is the weekend for the March of Dimes March for Babies in Gainesville. The four mile fundraising walk raises money, and awareness for the organizations goal to prevent birth defects, infant mortality and premature birth. Registration starts at 7 am Saturday, with a run and walk starting around 9 at Celebration Pointe. You can also raise money for a good cause downtown at the third annual Great Gainesville Car Show. The event, which benefits Noah's Endeavor, will have a variety of vintage and modern cars and motorcycles to check out. It's 9 am to 2 pm near Bo Diddley Plaza.
For sports at UF, the Gator baseball team continues it's series with South Carolina tonight at 6:30 pm and Saturday at 3:30 pm. The Gator lacrosse team is back in action Saturday, taking on East Carolina at 11 am at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Last, but not least, the spring football Orange and Blue Game starts at 1 pm at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Aside from the game, expect food trucks, live music, and lots of fun.
Also this weekend: Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is hosting its Party for the Planet Saturday and Sunday...and the Suwannee River Catfish Festival is Saturday in Branford.
