From a musical standpoint, there's only one big event this weekend as the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour rolls into town. The multi award winning and best selling country artist visits Gainesville following concerts in St. Louis and Glendale, Arizona. The show starts at 7 pm Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. It's preceded by Trisha's Tailgate, a party featuring Brooks' wife, and popular country artist, Trisha Yearwood. It's from 3 to 6 pm Saturday. Away from The Swamp, country act Montgomery Gentry is performing tonight at 7 pm. It's at Rock Crusher Canyon in Crystal River.
In Marion County, the Brick City Beer and Wine Festival returns for the sixth year. Tickets to the event feature unlimited beer and wine samples from local breweries and wineries, live music, food trucks and more. It's Saturday from 2 to 6 pm at Citizens' Circle, followed by the Titans of Rock concert from 6 to 8 pm. Just to the north, the Marion County Farmland Preservation Festival will be going on in Reddick. It features blacksmith demonstrations, hay rides, farm animals, food and live music. It's Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm at the Ocala Jockey Club on West Highway 318 in Reddick.
Gardening is on the minds of many now that we're heading further into spring. The Morningside Nature Center on the east side of Gainesville is having its 30th annual Native Plant Sale Saturday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Saturday. They'll have a wide variety of native shrubs, trees, grasses and more for sale at the event. Meanwhile, Dudley Farm Historic State Park is having its Earth Day and Heritage Plant Sale Saturday. The event features a variety of plants which have been grown at the park for decades. You can also learn about plants, build a bee house, and more. It's Saturday from 9:30 to 2 at the park west of Gainesville.
Easter is just around the corner and many places are celebrating with a variety of activities. There's too many to mention them all, but here's a few to check out. The City of Alachua is is having its Easter egg hunt Saturday from 10 am to noon at the Hal Brady Recreation Complex. Haile Plantation is holding its hunt Saturday from 9 am to noon at Haile Village Center in the Square. Meanwhile, Butler North has its hunt scheduled from 10 to noon Saturday.
Also this weekend: Gator softball takes on Alabama tonight and Saturday.
