UPDATE: Wildfire at the Ocala National Forest now 505 acres in total

The Ocala National Forest wildfire is now at 505 acres in total.

At this time, no structures are in danger but drivers are urged to take caution while in the area due to residual smoke.

Forestry units will be on scene throughout Thursday.

At the time of writing, 91 helicopter bucket drops and 3 air tanker retardant drops have been used.


A wildfire in the Ocala National Forest near SE 183rd Ave Road and SE 180th Ave Road in Ocklahawa is up to 700 acres.

About 50 residents have been evacuated.

This is a developing situation.
