Lubee Bat Conservancy is a must-see spot for all animals lovers in North Central Florida.

“We’re the only bat conservation organization in the world that cares for bats while maintaining active conservation education programs,” said Director Brian Pope.

Home to hundreds of bats, Lubee has spent three decades caring for these unique creatures. While the animals can sometimes get a bad wrap, a quick tour of the conservancy proves they’re charismatic and can even be cute.

“I think it gives them an opportunity to maybe, hopefully appreciate them,” said Pope.

From big bats with roots in South America, to little local ones, you can learn all about these interesting animals during a tour.

The conservancy is also gearing up for their 15th annual Florida Bat Festival on Oct. 26. The festival includes artwork, environmental vendors, food and different activities for kids and adults.

“The main attractions people come to see are the big bats that we have.” said Pope.

It’s another way for Lubee to educate people about the animals they work so hard to help.
