FORT WORTH, Texas Florida senior Alicia Boren added her name to the list of Gator legends on Friday night, earning a share of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships’ floor exercise title at the Forth Worth Convention Center. Boren recorded a 9.95 in the first rotation of NCAA Semifinal II competition and that score held as the top mark with two other gymnasts.
Boren becomes the third Gator to win the national title on floor. Her win is the 20th national crown by a Florida gymnast, and the program has now accounted for at least one individual national champion in each of the last eight seasons.
In semifinal II all-around competition, Boren tied for sixth at 39.375. It was Boren’s 54th consecutive and overall all-around appearance, making her the Gators’ all-time leader by eight competitions.
Boren was among four Gators competing as individuals in Friday’s NCAA Championships semifinal competition. Freshman Trinity Thomas shared seventh on floor, freshman Savannah Schoenherr earned a tie for eighth in semifinal II vault competition. and sophomore Alyssa Baumann turned in a 9.7625 on beam.
