Gainesville, Fla. (WCJB) University of Florida junior pitcher Tyler Dyson and junior outfielder Wil Dalton joined Brady McConnell as drafted members of the Gator baseball team on Tuesday. Dyson got selected by the Washington Nationals in the fifth round, while Dalton was chosen in the eighth round by the Boston Red Sox.

Dyson finished his junior season at Florida with a record of 3-2 and a 4.95 ERA, although he was expected to be the Gators' Friday night starter for the season. Dyson began the year in that premier role, but did not make an appearance for more than a month until coming out of the bullpen during Florida's final game of the NCAA tournament.

Two years ago as a freshman, Dyson collected the victory in the national championship-deciding game vs. LSU, helping the Gators win their first national title.

Dalton spent two seasons at Florida, racking up 19 homers and 60 RBI's as a sophomore in 2018. This past season, he hit .262 with eight homers.
