GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) Gainesville High School has lured an Alachua County rival to become its new head football coach. GHS principal David Shelnutt confirms the school has hired Dock Pollard from Santa Fe High School.

Pollard comes to GHS after leading the Raiders for the last two seasons, compiling an overall record of 10-11. He led Santa Fe to the Class 4A state playoffs in 2018.

Gainesville is a Class 6A program that enjoyed 11 consecutive winning seasons until 2019. The Hurricanes went only 2-8 overall this past fall and Patrick Miller was not retained as head coach.
