GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) The Florida softball team earned their trip to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City after the No. 5 seeded Gators defeated the No. 12 seeded Tennessee Volunteers 2-1 in eight innings on Sunday in the Gainesville Super Regional.
Florida sealed the deal when junior right fielder Jaimie Hoover added a Walk-off RBI single to bring in Amanda Lorenz to score, making it 2-1 which was the final score.
This is the 10th year in the last 12 years that the Gator softball program has advanced to the World Series. This is also the third year in a row that the program has made it. Up next in OKC, the Gators will take on No.13 Oklahoma State on Thursday. OSU knocked the Florida State Seminoles out of the Tallahassee Regional.
