Gainesville, Fla. (WCJB) The Florida baseball team is packing its bags for Lubbock, Texas after making the field for the NCAA tournament on Monday. The Gators were considered on the fringe after finishing the regular season 33-24, including a 13-17 mark in SEC play.

The Gators are headed to their 12th consecutive NCAA tournament and will take on Dallas Baptist to begin the Lubbock Regional on Friday at 8:00 EST. Regional host Texas Tech will face Army in the other opening round matchup at 4:00 EST.

The regional format is double elimination. The lone surviving team will be among 16 schools left in the entire NCAA tournament and will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals against the winner of the regional that includes Oklahoma State, UConn, Nebraska, and Harvard.

Florida is college baseball's team of the decade, reaching the College World Series in Omaha seven times since 2010, with one national championship in 2017. Although this season has had its ups and downs, getting selected for the NCAA tournament gives Florida a clean slate and a chance to make it back.
