Gainesville, Fla. After coming close to leading his team in all three triple crown categories this past season, Florida Gators shortstop Brady McConnell was drafted in the second round of Monday's Major League Baseball Draft, the 44th overall selection by the Kansas City Royals.

McConnell missed most of 2018 with an injury, but delivered as a sophomore, batting .332 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI's. His 15 homers are a single season school record for a shortstop. He joins former Gators Brady Singer and Jackson Kowar in the Royals organization.

Florida signee Riley Greene (Hagerty H.S.) went off the board early, chosen fifth overall by the Detroit Tigers.
