GAINESVILLE, Fla. The O'Connell Center floor will officially be christened "Billy Donovan Court" during the Gator men's basketball home game on February 15th, after the University of Florida Board of Trustees approved naming the court after its former head coach who led the program to a pair of NCAA titles.
Donovan, who now coaches the Oklahoma City Thunder and will be available to attend the ceremony during the NBA All-Star break, guided the Gators for 19 seasons, reaching four Final Fours and seven Elite Eights, while earning six SEC titles.
Donovan won 467 games at Florida and his overall college coaching mark stands at 502-206.
Under Donovan, Florida won consecutive national titles in 2006 and 2007, and remain the only men's program to repeat in the last 25 years. In his next to last season with the Gators in 2013-14, Florida recorded a program-record 30 straight wins.
