Trenton captures state softball crown

Vero Beach The Trenton Tigers won their first state softball championship in school history on Wednesday, defeating Sneads 7-3 in the finals of the FHSAA Class 1A tournament in Vero Beach.

Trenton led the contest, 1-0 through four innings before exploding for six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Hallie Bryant collected four hits for the Tigers to lead the offense. Five different Tigers drove in runs while Darian Ingram tossed a complete game, striking out 12 batters.

Trenton finishes the season 27-0 and gives the school a second state title of the school year. The Tigers' girls basketball also won a state championship in February.
