Alachua Police officers responded to the Circle K on Northwest U.S. Highway 441 in reference to a person shot. Once officers arrived they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. After an investigation, officers found out that the victim and two other passengers were traveling from the Waffle House in Alachua to the area of Northwest 147 Lane and NW 134 Terrace.

June is the peak of Florida's potato season, with a 90-day growing cycle the harvest period is from late January through June. Growing potatoes in Florida produces different commercial varieties from those grown in other parts of the country. Most U.S. growers produce russet potatoes. This variety does not grow well in Florida because it can take up to four months to produce tubers. Florida's most popular varieties are White Potatoes, the LaChipper, Sebago and the Yukon Gold. Also, Red Potatoes, the Red LaSoda and the LaRouge. A 100-foot row can produce from 150 to 300 pounds of potatoes depending on the variety and the year.
