FARM FACT: The National Agriculture Industry in the U.S.

The Florida Agriculture industry contributes to the well-being of families in the United States and abroad. Here are a few fast facts about our national agriculture industry, courtesy of the American Farm Bureau Federation. One U.S. farm feeds 166 people annually in the U.S. and abroad. Cattle and calves, corn, and soybeans are the top three U.S. farm products. 87% of U.S. ag products sold are produced on family farms or ranches. And 25% of all farmers are beginning farmers with an average age of 46. Farm and ranch families comprise only 2% of the United States population. The Farming and ranching industry in the U.S. must expand to feed the rapidly increasing global population and demand for food. The next time you shop for groceries, cook dinner or eat at a restaurant, thank a farmer!
