Petition made to stop a Winn-Dixie from being converted to an Aldi

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Some Gainesville residents aren’t happy about one Winn-Dixie store potentially being converted to an Aldi.

Residents have started a change.org petition to keep the Winn-Dixie on 16th Avenue the same.

The store has been around since 1997.

The petition’s creators say the store is set to close on Dec. 8 before the conversion.

They say some workers there were fired after the news.

Earlier this year, Aldi bought out Winn-Dixie and began converting plenty of their stores to Aldis.
