Snorkeler released from hospital after alligator bite at Rainbow River

RAINBOW RIVER, Fla. (WCJB) - A 19-year-old man bitten by an 8-foot-long alligator at Rainbow River over the weekend has been released from the hospital, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife officers.

The river has been reopened since the incident, and the 8-foot-3 gator has been found and euthanized.

FWC officers said these attacks are rare but asked people to call 866-392-4286 if a gator gets too close.
