Tree smashes through a home during strong thunderstorm in Gainesville
The storm may be over, the family is looking for help to rebuild.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Damage from this past Saturday’s strong thunderstorms is still visible across the area, especially for a home on NW 19th lane.
The residents were inside riding out the storm on July 11, 2026, when a heavy tree barreled through the roof of their house.
One family member, David Seale, said he came outside to see what happened and was pelleted by quarter-size hail, heavy rain and strong winds.
“We were sitting there and it hit the house so hard, like it shook the whole house. The windows and everything like, we didn’t know what happened. All we know is the ceiling started falling in on us,” Seale said.
The storm may be over, but repairs haven’t started yet. Seale said there’s a leak in the house every time it rains, and the family is looking for help to rebuild via their GoFundMe.
