Suspect cuts man with box cutter, sics dog on him, Alachua County deputies say
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of attacking another man with a box cutter and siccing his dog on him.
According to the arrest report for Napoleon Filer, 64, of Gainesville, the victim was riding a bicycle in front of Filer’s home on Southwest 61st Street on Sunday evening when Filer confronted him.
Filer accused the victim of owing him $30 from a marijuana sale. When the victim said he didn’t have the money, Filer reportedly pulled out a box cutter.
The victim told deputies that Filer chased him with the box cutter. A dog then exited the home, and Filer reportedly ordered it to attack the victim.
The dog bit the victim’s leg, and Filer sliced his face while the victim was pinned. During the attack, the victim lost his glasses.
Filer told the victim to leave the glasses and pulled out a gun.
“If you come back, I’m going to kill you,” Filer reportedly said while holding the gun.
Deputies observed a cut on the victim’s cheek and a bite mark on his leg. Filer told deputies there was no fight. The victim’s glasses were found in the area.
