Former testing laboratory beagle finds new life in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A former laboratory beagle is getting a second chance at life in North Central Florida.
Princess Peach Hope Grace Dodd spent nearly seven years at a research breeding facility in Wisconsin, where she was identified as “CTU9.” She was removed from the facility in May and brought to her new home in the Gainesville area in June.
Her owners say Peach arrived with several medical issues connected to her previous living conditions.
She has since undergone dental surgery, had masses removed and received treatment for infections and skin problems.
Now, Peach is adjusting to life as a family dog. She spends time learning to play, trust people and interact with other animals.
Peach will also be at a local solidarity event in Gainesville on September 26 connected to the March to Abolish Animal Testing.
